Joshua Tree Adventure

Somehow, I had never experienced the magic of Joshua Tree until now. Each high-desert Yucca Palm has their own alien-like persona, giving passersby the feeling of intergalactic space travel. This feeling is compounded at night with stars cluttering the open sky. I now understand the fascination amongst artists and musicians alike. I must someday return.

Portland End of Summer Fun!

When in Portland, I tend to do the things I like to do in San Francisco (or anywhere for that matter).  I like to eat good food, drink good coffee, ride bikes, go to record/book/vintage stores, and drink good beer. That’s pretty much what we did along with stopping to smell the roses in the city of roses.

I found this 1950s New Directions copy of Paris Spleen at Powell’s Books! A prose poem inside is this blog’s namesake.

Bernard’s Farm- McMinnville, OR

After the long drive up to Portland, we quickly left town again in search of a u-pick farm to get some fresh produce for the week. Bernard’s Farm in McMinnville, OR had a bounty of varied produce to pick to our heart’s desire. Raspberries were in abundance and we picked almost 3 lbs at $1 per pound. There are many options for u-pick spots closer to Portland but Bernard’s Farm seemed to have the largest variety to make it worth the trek.
