Cult Cargo: Belize City Boil Up

To my pleasant surprise, our dear friends gave us the gift that keeps on giving, a record! It’s a Numero Uno Records compilation called Cult Cargo: Belize City Boil Up. The gatefold says it perfectly…

“Pig’s tail, plantains, bananas, boiled eggs, yams, and whole fish. The boil up, the traditional dish of Belize, is the perfect metaphor for it’s music and culture: diverse ingredients, mixed thoroughly , yet remaining intact.” I’ve been needing new music and it’s a special mix that makes me move. Here are a couple of favorites including a sweet cover version of “Shame, Shame, Shame,” that really brings me back.

Here’s the live version by Shirley & Company.

Thanks, NMM and RJCK!

About Soup and the Clouds

I treasure the small adventures in life. Such as, listening to records, making jam from farmer's market produce, seeing new sites, eating the best tomato I've ever had, reading a good book, watching a film, appreciating a good font, going for a long bike ride or walking down a street I've never walked on before. The list goes on.
