Food Swap!

A dream of mine came true… I attended a food swap! I have been interested in canning, pickling, fermenting for some time and have always wanted to meet and exchange various makings with others that are into the same thing. It all started off with a sweet letterpress invitation designed by a talented lady. Me and my very significant person each brought 6 jars to swap which meant we came home with a plethora of goods to share. So much homemade goodness! He brought hot sauce and I took a chance on pickled grapes (sort of an acquired taste). I was thoroughly impressed with the variety and creativity of all swappers! It was a bit intense at first when we were ready to swap. People definitely had their eye on certain items. Luckily for me, I was positioned right next to the raspberry mead and snagged the last bottle. It was great fun and a good turnout, hosted by a lovely lady. Our takings home included pumpkin butter, english chutney, anisette (anise liqueur!), thai red curry paste, russian style pickled tomatoes, caramel corn, chocolate dipped macaroons, spiced plum sauce, and more! Here’s a glance of the pretty jars full of exciting new tastes with a special ingredient… a sprinkle of heart 🙂

About Soup and the Clouds

I treasure the small adventures in life. Such as, listening to records, making jam from farmer's market produce, seeing new sites, eating the best tomato I've ever had, reading a good book, watching a film, appreciating a good font, going for a long bike ride or walking down a street I've never walked on before. The list goes on.
