mingus at the bohemia

I’ve always had an infatuation with the upright bass and have dreamed of one day playing such a grand instrument. Partially because I’m a gal of small stature and it would be my stand up friend and we’d make music together. I have a tendency to personify inanimate objects. Mostly because it’s a beautiful instrument that has the capability to convey an array of emotion. One day I heard Charles Mingus at the Bohemia and it was all over. He’s my bassist hero. Max Roach ain’t bad on the percussions either. This session feels fun. Not too clean, not too free, but fun!  Yet another example of records being my portal into the past. Wish I was there at the Bohemia before my lifetime.

About Soup and the Clouds

I treasure the small adventures in life. Such as, listening to records, making jam from farmer's market produce, seeing new sites, eating the best tomato I've ever had, reading a good book, watching a film, appreciating a good font, going for a long bike ride or walking down a street I've never walked on before. The list goes on.
